We are not just a water softener company. AquaTek is a water purification company with 28 years of technological experience and knowledge (TEK) in the filtration field. Our main office is located in Vero Beach Florida. We tend to stay away from water treatment as a way to deal with water problems and focus on purifying water through filtration.
AquaTek was started from our love of the salt water aquarium hobby where the water most be perfect. When we got into the hobby, we started with just fish. When we would visit stores that carried salt water fish and supplies, some would also sell corals. If you have been to one of these stores and have seen all the different colors of the corals, you would understand our desire to have them in our tanks.
There is a huge difference in keeping salt water fish and corals. The water for corals must be absolutely clean with, absolutely no contaminants! Pure contaminant free water is a requirement and corals will quickly die if there are contaminants in the water.
Water chemistry and filtration
We had to learn water chemistry and found the best equipment to use to remove every contaminant in water. Water contaminants are found by testing the water but, you must also know water chemistry. One perimeter or contaminant in water can effect another and can skew test results.
Water is the worlds greatest solvent and can dissolve almost everything. Water can carry those dissolved solid and chemical particles through the piping to your home. We had to learn the contaminants, how they effect each other and what it takes to get rid of them.
As we grew in the salt water aquarium hobby, we joined a few reef keeping clubs. At club meetings, some members would bring frags (coral cuttings) to trade with other members. Whenever, another member would trade with us, we often heard how nice and healthy our corals looked. They all wanted to know what we were putting in our water but, we had to explain, it wasn’t what we were putting in our water, it was what we were taking out.
People starting asking us, “Where did you buy your filter system?”. What kind is it? How much was it? When we told them, “We did not buy our filter system, we built it”. It didn’t take long before we were being asked to build filter systems for them as well. It was through this hobby, AquaTek Pro was born; although, we had no idea at the time. Over the years, it just grew to the point where it simply became a business and we truly enjoy what we do.
Now, not only do we help reef aquarists with their filter systems, we also help our new clients with their individual water filtration needs. Some of our customers are actually disconnecting from municipal water sources and going back to private wells because, of all the contaminants found in the municipal source water. Well water usually will have one or two contaminants that need to be dealt with while, municipal water can contain hundreds of contaminates.

A water softener that is too small for the number of people in the home will use a lot of salt and in a years time hundreds of dollars will be spent on salt.

You want a system that will perform for years with minimal maintenance. In 2017, we only had one service call on the filtration equipment we sell. It was an automatic, whole house chemical filter that experienced a power outage during hurricane Irma and walked the customer through resetting it over the phone.

Our pro line units come with a five year and 10 year warranty and we will test and maintain that unit every year for free during the warranty period. All of our water softeners and other filtration units have been independently tasted and certified by the Water Quality Association (WQA).
We can design and install filtration systems from residential to heavy industrial and have the capability of targeting specific contaminant removal as well. We also carry a full line of treatment products to help maintain your water purification equipment and plumbing.
It all starts with a free, on site, water test. A full scale laboratory test can also be conducted at a small cost and can reveal a broad range of possible hazardous contaminants.
